Situated between the convergence of the Stillwater and Yellowstone Rivers and Interstate 90, just 40 miles west of Montana’s largest city, Billings, Columbus is a center point in Stillwater County. From Columbus you can travel north to the rolling plains and wide open spaces near Rapelje and Molt or head south to the wildlife, water, and trees of the Beartooth Mountains.
Columbus, an incorporated community is the County seat of Stillwater County and home to approximately 1900 residents.
